I recently checked my credit report and noticed that three credit inquires I made this December (MC, Discover Visa) were still on my report. How long do they stay?

I have a credit score of 618. Is this enough for me to apply for a home loan?

QNA asked:

Here’s the background info:

Came to the US in mid-2001, opened my first credit account shortly thereafter.

Everything was going great, making ontime payments, keeping my balance low, until mid-2004 when I hit a bump on the road, which resulted in several late payments on several accounts, a couple as late as 60, 90 days.

Picked myself up a bit, but have been only able to make minimum payments. Cards are maxed out, which is the reason for my score of 580, I guess.

Have about 4K in credit card debt, which I am planning to pay down completely within the next 3 months.

How much and how fast can I expect my score to increase? When will it reach a respectable level assuming everything goes well from now on?

Thanks in advance.
I’m asking because I want buy a house.
I have no accounts in collection.

All my accounts are open and current, but just very near the credit limit.
I have been making on time but minimum payments for the past several years.

Wendy P asked:

Do you really think its fair that blemishes, caused by a late payment(s) that occurred 6 years ago should still appear on your credit report? My credit report shows I had credit cards from specialty catalogues that I never even used from 6-8 years ago. The accounts are long since closed. It seems ridiculous that these even still appear on my report. And if creditors are going to use my report to deny me credit, shouldn’t all creditors be required to report once a month to each of the 3 major credit companies the status of all accounts held by them? For example, my lending institution for my vehicle only reports to one of the credit companies. That company shows I have a favourable credit score yet the other two give the appearance that I have poor credit.

I filed for bankruptcy (chapter 7) a year ago and successfully had it discharged. I’m in teh process of rebuilding my credit and I pulled my credit report and all the creditors included in the bankruptcy have my accounts listed as bankruptcy which is destroying my credit score. Is there any way I can have those accounts removed since they are all closed and were included with the bankruptcy? Does anyone have any tips on rebuilding my credit? My score is currently 530 and I would like to raise it to the average but it seems like it hasn’t been going anywhere. What can I do?

A few family members have been victims of identity theft and they keep telling me to check my credit report constantly to make sure nothing looks fishy. Should I check it once a week? Once a month? I mean, how often can everything on report change? Or is it as quick as over night?

I’m not referring to credit repair. All three of my credit reports have a lot of incorrect information on them, and I’m really not sure how to go about getting them corrected. I have heard that it’s difficult to do, so I was hoping that someone could recommend a service that I could use to help get my information corrected.

I am a single mother looking for an apartment. I found a great place in the same school district as my kids are in now. They said they will run a credit check and that will determine my qualification. If it comes back conditional, I will have to pay an increased security. If it comes back denied, I won’t get the apartment. Does anyone know what score these credit checks look for??

Recently, on my credit report I found delinquent balances reported for credit cards and loans that belong to someone else with the same name. The only recourse I’ve been told I have is to send in a written request to remove these items. The problem is that my credit cards limits are now being reduced because of these items on my credit report. Is there any way to have credit resolve this is a timely manner?
